Your introduction to the "wilds" of St. Thomas will take place on inflatable boats as you travel for a 10-minute ride to a deserted area which is lush with tropical life. The naturalist guiding you will introduce you to the Wildlife Sanctuary and you will learn the ropes about the ecosystem which creates this paradise. This is absolutely the most perfect trip for a young family as it moves along at a lovely pace as you move from one venue to the next.

You begin with an easy hike along a walking path. You will stop at a hermit crab village located inside of a mangrove forest. Along with the entertainment of a hermit crab race, your guide will introduce you to nature's gifts like sea purselane, a salty plant reminiscent of green beans which you can taste if you wish.

As you walk along a coral and shell rubble coastline, you will enjoy panoramic and breathtaking views. Stop for photographs at the edge of cliffs in a tidal pool area with a geologic blowhole. Sea urchins and sea stars abound here to delight all.

The culmination of your hike ends at a cave where children can find the "pirate's treasure."

Then, enjoy an easy beach entry snorkel in the calm, clear protected waters of the lagoon's Marine Sanctuary, teeming with juvenile fish and loads of sea creatures. You will be helped in your identification of all these creatures in your small group by your experienced guide. Viewfinders, boogie boards and floaters will all help you and your children in comfortably snorkeling the smooth waters.
