This expedition into Cockpit Country begins at 8:00a.m. The expedition begins at the Trail by the Old Windsor Great House at the edge of the Cockpit Forest, in valley 'midst sugar cane and coffee plantations. The forest offers an array of endemic birds and unique vegetation ...for naturalists a real encounter with the wild. Once there, you'll see orchids and ferns, vines and bromeliads, huge trees and palms. Hike along a trail used 200 years ago by the famous Maroon freedom fighters in their successful guerilla war against the British. Lunch is included in the trip before your 2:00 departure to head back to Ocho Rios. En route, you'll stop to see the ruins of a 17 century sugar factory and estate before arriving in Ocho Rios at 4:00p.m.
