ARTBEAT
IN NEVIS - EXCLUSIVE
$69 Per Person
You won't have to walk a
step to begin this tour as you will be met at the Dock around 9:30 am.
Your tour will consist of five locations showing examples of a wide
variety of arts and crafts.
You will see the Nevis Craft Shop, where the locales make mats, pottery,
bags, and charming things made from shells. I regret not buying some
small mirrors with shell frames. You will go to New Castle Pottery,
where the large selection of vessels are made from the volcanic soil of
Nevis.
Your guide knows the "wood carver" who created small and large animals
at his home studio, and the wood is from Nevis. A special stop is the
Eva Wilkin Gallery, located in an old sugar mill. Not only will you see
Eva's work but you will have a chance to take in the breath-taking views
of the island. Eva came from Montserrat as a child and started to paint
here. Her work is well-known, particularly her portraits of the local
people.
If that isn't enough, you continue on to a studio, where you will
connect with a ceramicist who will walk you through her creative
process. And, last but not least, you be transported back into town to
have a delicious lunch in the colorful courtyard, all included in your
tour.
When you are ready, you will be directed to continue on a very short
walk to the pier.
