INDIAN RIVER BOAT TRIP AND CABRITS
NATIONAL PARK
Your guide will start you with a drive along
the West Coast to Portsmouth, the island's second largest town. You will
transfer there to a rowboat for a trip up the famous Indian River. When
early European ships stopped at the island, crew members often rowed up
"the river of the Indians" to trade with the Caribs. Soon, they were
marking their maps "Indian River". A rowboat is preferred over a
powerboat as the noise of the motor will detract from the peacefulness
of the river and scare the wildlife. |
