FOUR UNFORGETTABLE SIGHTS OF BARBADOS
$56 Per Person
Sample the culture of Barbados and its most popular attractions on this
breathtaking 4 hour tour, with stops at four major attractions.
Your first introduction to the island is a stop at the phenomenal
Harrison's Cave, where you can ride an electric tram with a guide and
view the underground world of bubbling pools and waterfalls.
St. John's Parish Church, a lovely Gothic-style church with an
attractive tower, was built in 1836. The doors and windows date from the
17th-century as they were salvaged from the original structure after it
was destroyed in 1831 by a hurricane. Your guide will point out the six
different woods used inside to construct the pulpit. But the most
breathtaking ingredient to this stop is the view from the graveyard
behind the church.
On to your third stop, the majestic Lion Monument at Gun Hill, a militia
outpost and convalescent station used by British regiments in the 19th
Century. The massive 16 foot Lion, a symbol of the British Empire, was
carved out of the cliff by Colonel Wilkinson with the help of 4
assistants, and commands a magnificent view of the Central District, the
sugar belt of Barbados."
Last, in the parish of St. Philip, you will see the Sunbury Plantation
House. This beautiful home is over 300 years old and is the only
plantation house in Barbados which has all rooms open for viewing. It
houses one of the island's best collections of antiques and is a must
for visitors interested in heritage, history, and antiques.
Gun Hill and Subury Plantation House. A captivating combination of
history and nature.
